D.Va, Overwatch

I’ve finally got around to colouring my DVa sketch. I tried out a slightly different painting technique for this one that ended up not only being faster, but I also really like how it turned out. Instead of painting each colour individually I did essentially three black and white lighting passes – one for ambient occlusion, one for the direct light, and one for rim. I think the ambient occlusion lends a sense of realism, and the technique is familiar since a lot of 3d rendering programs use AO as well.

I’ve been overdosing a bit on Overwatch the game, especially with the latest halloween update. I feel bad for all the other games I’m not playing. Overwatch is just so good.
